Dr Amarjit Raju OBE DL (Amo) is the multi award-winning former CEO of Disability Direct, a disabled person, who led Disability Direct to successfully deliver welfare rights services for disabled adults from 1994 to 2024. Amo was awarded the OBE for services to disabled people, carers, and awareness of mental health. Amo won the Lifetime Achiever Award 2023 at the National Diversity Awards. He is championing The SEND Dynamic C.I.C. because he was once a disabled child struggling in an education system with a one size fits all approach.
Despite having left school without any qualifications Amo went on to become part of a dynamic charity. Amo has shown society that disabled people are inspirational role models and the very best entrepreneurs. Disability Direct is 95% sustainable through earned income which is rare in the charitable sector. Amo was a co-founding Director of The SEND Dynamic C.I.C. and remains a key supporter of our work in his role of ambassador for the Disability Direct group.
